Tom Petty has a great song that really sums up our adoption experience right now.
Lyrics from The Waiting by Tom Petty
Oh baby dont it feel like heaven right now
Dont it feel like somethin from a dream
Yeah Ive never known nothing quite like this
Dont it feel like tonight might never be again
We know better than to try and pretend
Baby no one could have ever told me bout thisThe waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more card
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part
Of course Tom wasn’t talking about an infant when he said “baby”, but I’ll take some liberties to stretch his song to fit our circumstances. We are in waiting mode.
The classes are done. The paperwork is in. Our match letter is in the agency’s book. Now we wait for God to bring us to the attention of a birth mom out there who is looking for a family to give her child the home that she’s unable to provide. We’re waiting for the child that God has planned to be part of our family.
The waiting is the hardest part.
