We have our home visit coming up very soon. The social worker is scheduled to come next weekend (March 1st & 2nd) for two visits. She is going to look around our house to make sure we have someplace to put an adopted child and so that she can describe it for her report. She’ll ask us questions to get to know us better. She’ll also interview our kids.
Stacie has done a ton of work to declutter and make room in the house. This past week was exhausting for her while preparing for the visit. She’s changed our spare room from a multi-use play room/ home school room/ guest room into a space ready for a crib and changing table. She’s cleaned almost obsessively. She thinned out a growing collection of used kids clothes from closets, dressers, and storage containers to keep only what we can use and share the rest with friends who could use them. She even moved furniture from room to room so that there’s a place to put the baby’s things. It’s been a long week.
